JAK FOUNDATION NUTRITION

Governments over the years have made attempts to address the challenge  of Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) 2  on zero hunger and  malnutrition, to ensure that the productive capacities of the population is enhanced to develop the nation. The chairman of the Foundation, H.E. John. Agyekum Kufuor is the co-chair of the Global Panel on Agriculture and Food Systems for Nutrition, winner of the World Food Price for Food and Agriculture in 2011, and former WFP Global Ambassador against Hunger. A summary of the specific interventions are indicated below:

Sustainable Development Goal 2:  The JAK Foundation partnered with the United Nations World Food Programme, to undertake a nationwide strategic review of Sustainable Development Goal 2 (SDG2).  The intervention carried out by the Foundation resulted in H.E. Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo’s Launch of the Ghana Zero Hunger Strategic Review Report. The report which was launched in July 2017 is intended to form the basis of nutrition interventions in Ghana.

Support to the Nutrition Champion: H.E J.A. Kufuor and H.E. Adesina started an initiative for eminent persons to champion the course of Nutrition. The Foundation facilitated this initiative in Ghana by supporting the Government of Ghana to identify and inaugurate the first lady as nutrition Champion on the   12th December, in collaboration with the AfDB. In attendance was a Director from the AFBD,  Ministry of Health, Ministry of Planning and Ministry of Food and Agriculture among others.
